The ending of the winter finale of ABC's Castle was definitely a game-changer for the series, with many fans left wondering where the show will go from here.

'Castle' Showrunner Hoping To 'Earn Back' Trust From Fans With Rick & Kate Wedding

The NYPD severed ties with Castle (Nathan Fillion) after he was found to have ties to the mob. With Castle no longer working beside his wife Beckett (Stana Katic), how will the series keep up the same general feeling without changing the show drastically?

Castle show runner David Amann has a plan. The new show runner spoke with TVGuide.com after the episode Monday about the new "equilibrium" of the series.

'Castle's Rick Now Forced To Work From A 'Private Investigator Angle' Outside Of NYPD?

"When we come back for episode 11, a couple of months will have passed. Things have found a different kind of equilibrium," he explained. "Castle's not at the precinct, but he's writing and keeping busy, and Beckett and everybody's kind of acclimated to his absence."

Castle will be trying his hardest to get back into the 12th Precinct, no matter what it takes.

"Just as they have acclimated to his absence, suddenly he appears at the scene having acquired his private investigator's license," Amann teased. "He presents himself as a private investigator with the sole intent and purpose of getting back into the 12th Precinct through the back door. That's not going to go his way but that's not going to stop him from trying."

As for what he will be investigating now that he is a "private eye," Amann said in a new TVGuide.com report that there is a case that comes up that coincides with his vanishing at the beginning of the season.

Castle returns to ABC in its regular 10 p.m timeslot on Jan. 12.
