Coach Beiste (Dot-Marie Jones) might be making a huge transition in the final season of Fox's Glee.

New speculation from Wetpaint is suggesting that Coach Beiste may be transgender and transitioning into a man in the final season of Glee. While nothing has been made official, a few pieces of evidence certainly make sense when put together.

Back in November, E! Online released a blind item spoiler report talking about "a fan-favorite, high-profile TV show" that will present a storyline that involves a female character transitioning into a male.

The news site lists several shows to choose from and Glee is in the mix.

Then, Instagram user "briaen" posted a photo of herself with Jones, who is sporting some healthy facial hair and a very short haircut.

As such, fans have put the pieces together and are speculating that it is indeed Coach Beiste that is transitioning.

The arc is reportedly "very emotional" according to E! Online and sources are saying that it will be handled "delicately and respectfully."

Transgender issues are becoming more and more prevalent on television these days, with transgender actress Laverne Cox continuing to play fan favorite Sophia on Netflix's Orange Is the New Black and actor Jeffrey Tambor playing an older man making his transition to being a woman in Amazon's Transparent.

Glee has always been about acceptance and loving who you are, so this potential storyline could fit in perfectly with the show's reputation.

Glee returns for its sixth and final season Friday, Jan. 9 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
