Floyd Mayweather sat down with the Los Angeles Police Department this week to speak with detectives about the death of his close friend, rapper Earl Hayes, and said he tried to stop his suicide, according to new reports.

TMZ reported that during the two-hour questioning on Wednesday, the professional boxer confirmed to police that he was speaking to Hayes over the FaceTime app the morning Hayes died. The boxer, 37, said they were discussing the couple's infidelity issues and denied egging on Hayes as previous reports claimed.

While they were on the phone, Hayes walked into the other room and shot and killed his wife Stephanie Moseley. Hayes then reappeared on FaceTime and told Mayweather that he was going to kill himself. Mayweather said he attempted to stop him.

Moseley, a dancer who worked with big names like Britney Spears, Chris Brown, Rihanna, and Beyonce, was murdered by Hayes on Dec. 8. According to news reports, residents in their Los Angeles apartment building heard several gun shots and screams early that morning. When police arrived at the scene, they found both Moseley, 30, and Hayes, 34, dead.

Hayes, who was part of Mayweather's money team, reportedly accused his wife of cheating on him with famous entertainers, including Trey Songz.

Many of Moseley's friend expressed their sadness over social media, including her Hit The Floor co-star, Taylour Paige.

"This is the worst day of my life. You have to tell people how you feel about them. You don't have time," Paige wrote on Instagram. "I would do anything to go back. I don't want to live without you here."
