At least one element of MTV's planned Scream TV series will be familiar to fans of the original movie-the opening murder scene.

According to IGN, Bella Thorne, best known for Disney Channel's Shake It Up, will be recreating the famous Drew Barrymore opening scene from the movie, involving the fateful "What's your favorite scary movie?" phone call.

Thorne confirmed the news herself, saying "Yes, it is true. I will re-enact the famous scene of Drew Barrymore in the original series."

Very little other detail has been revealed about the character, though Thorne did admit that her name is Nina.

The opening scene is one of the first confirmed parts of the original movie to be a part of the special television series, which has been forced to leave out one of the most iconic parts of the film from its show-the character of Ghostface.

It was previously reported that the mask wouldn't be allowed in MTV's series, because it is still owned and actively produced Fun World, though the company's owner was never clear about the possibility, only saying back in October:

"Please note that I have been in communication with TWC regarding this and they have informed me that, as of now and during the initial launch, Ghostface is not involved in the new format. They also indicated that because of this direction it does not mean that Ghostface will not be involved at a later date...," he said.  "We believe Scream is Ghostface and Ghostface is Scream. However, while Ghostface is owned by Fun World, the Scream Motion Picture Franchise is owned by The Weinstein Company and it is their option to film a movie or TV show without Ghostface. Regardless, we wish them the best of luck and I'm sure Scream fans will check out the series. Who knows what will happen in the future regarding the series and Ghostface. Never say never."

It is currently unclear who will play the murderous character in the series.

The series kicks off on MTV with ten episodes starting in October 2015.
