The Good Wife star Josh Charles welcomed his first child, a son, with wife Sophie Flack on December 9.

Alicia And Finn To Be Romantically Involved In The Good Wife?

Charles was last in the news for exiting from the CBS legal drama, and his character Will Garnder's shocking death on the show. A USA Today report states that Charles was actually planning on leaving The Good Wife earlier, perhaps in season 4, but it as his wife was expecting, he was motivated to stay on. Reportedly, Julianna Margulies, who plays Alicia on the show, told him that it would be wise for him to stick on for another season, so as to be able to stow away some more money as it is expensive to raise a child in New York.

In an interview this September, Charles, spoke to Screen Crush about quitting the show. The actor stated that while working on The Good Wife was a very enriching experience, he hoped to play different characters in his career and is looking to find a new television show.

Kalinda To Be Killed Off Like Will In Season 6?

"No, I don't think I am. I mean, I made some good ones and I'm eager to sort of - you know, to me, having this sort of run, this glorious five years of having the security and structure of The Good Wife and working with such brilliant writing," he said. "I mean, look, I had no sort of fantasy that I'm going to like walk out there and immediately like everything's going to be, oh, here's my dream job. But it's really about just wanting to do different characters and I'm hoping that continues in all mediums and I can't wait to find the next television show ... and the good news is, there's a lot going on in my life personally right now."

The latest episode of the CBS legal drama left Cary's (Matt Czuchry) case hanging, as he had to decide if he would testify against Lemond Bishop (Mike Colter) to get a shorter sentence. The shocking cliffhanger, shows Cary deciding to plead guilty in court as most of the evidence and witnesses turn against him. While it seems unlikely that Cary would be put away for a bunch of years to not appear on The Good Wife, it could be made a possibility by giving him a dramatic exit in the upcoming episode, which is set to air on January 4, and then show him deal with prison life in the rest of the episodes that are left in the season.

When next season comes back, it might use a time jump and show Cary return, but this could jeopardise his career too. Meanwhile, the other sad exit this season will be that of Archie Panjabi, who plays Kalinda Sharma on the series.
