Netflix's Orange Is the New Black boasts a huge ensemble full of great performances, though only a few actresses have been reaping awards success.

'Orange Is the New Black' Star Uzo Aduba Says Season 3 Is 'Clear As Day,' But What Does She Mean?

Orange Is the New Black broke out at the Emmys this year with five actresses being nominated. Taylor Schilling (who plays Piper) was nominated for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, Kate Mulgrew (Red) in Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and Uzo Aduba (Suzanne "Crazy Eyes"), Laverne Cox (Sophia) and Natasha Lyonne (Nicky) for Guest Actress in a Comedy Series.

Of the five, only Aduba ended up winning the Emmy. The series received little love (as far as wins) at the Emmys otherwise.

'Orange Is the New Black' Scores Big for Golden Globe Nominations, Two Stars Get Noms

Now, nominations are out for the Golden Globes and the SAG Awards, where only two actresses are getting attention. Aduba is nominated at both award shows, getting into Female Actor in a Comedy Series at SAG and Supporting Actress in a TV Series at the Globes. Meanwhile, Schilling was nominated for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series at the Globes.

While the whole cast was nominated for Best Ensemble at the SAG Awards, it is interesting that no other actresses have been singled out since.

For season 2, there are many great performances from the cast of Orange Is the New Black, particularly Lorraine Toussaint (Vee), Yael Stone (Lorna), Samira Wiley (Poussey) and Mulgrew. It remains to be seen if any of them will be nominated for Emmys next year.

They are not being entirely shut out though. The NAACP has been very accepting of the cast. This season, they have nominated Aduba, Cox, Toussaint and Adrienne C. Moore (Black Cindy) for their annual awards. While this may not be as widely strived after as a Golden Globe or SAG Award, they at least count for something.

Orange Is the New Black is expected to premiere season 3 in mid-2015 on Netflix, though the streaming site has not yet announced a specific air date. The first two seasons are currently available for streaming.
