Keith Urban will continue as one of the judges for Fox's American Idol in 2015, but what fans might not realize is that this judge comes with an entourage of informal judges willing to throw in their opinions.

Apparently Urban enjoys watching the show air on television with his wife, actress Nicole Kidman, and their two young daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.

"I love them watching because I like they way they respond to people," explained Urban to Taste Of Country on Monday. "It's very interesting."

As an actress Kidman knows a thing or two about showmanship, but that's not why Urban turns to his family for an honest opinion. He trusts her not because she watches as someone in entertainment, but rather she watches just like any other viewer.

"They watch like everybody else does and either respond to someone or they don't," noted the Somewhere In My Car singer. "And I'm interested in that because we can get sort of myopic with it sometimes, being in the middle of it all."

Urban values the opinion of his family. "It's great to get just a totally fresh perspective," he added. "I often ask Nic what she thinks of various people and who she likes and why."

"Particularly why," he emphasized. "That's always interested me."

American Idol will return on Fox for its 14th season Jan. 7, 2015.
