5 Seconds of Summer's drummer and oldest member Ashton Irwin gave bassist Calum Hood some sound advice that "hit" Hood hard.

5 Seconds of Summer 'Dressed Up' Like Grandparents

On Tuesday, Sugarscape reported that Hood spoke with News Corp and revealed Irwin gave him pretty solid advice before a show in Los Angeles that has stayed with him.

The advice Irwin bestowed on his bandmate is about stage presence, which is an important aspect of being in a band that tours frequently.

Hood said, "I was just sitting in the dressing room backstage in LA and Ashton came up to me an hour before the show and said 'This is your chance to have an influence on people as a performer.'"

"And that really hit me. I look up to Billie Joe [of Green Day] and Dave Grohl [of Foo Fighters] and how they are on stage," the bassist added.

It would appear that Irwin's advice has gone over well since the Aussies have been so busy performing and releasing content, including a live album called LIVESOS.

Hood definitely gives his all on stage just like the musicians he looks up to. He constantly shares photos of himself and his bandmates on stage on his Instagram.

Earlier today the bassist posted a photo of himself mid-air along with Irwin in the background on the drums and Luke Hemmings singing. Great stage presence is definitely nailed.

I feel u Ashton.. People magazine awards tonight, hope you can watch :)
