Actress Angela Bassett recently discussed whether or not her character on FX's American Horror Story: Freak Show would survive until the end.

'American Horror Story' Star Emma Roberts May Not Appear In Fifth Season Due To 'Scream Queens'

Bassett, who plays three-breasted woman Desiree Dupree on AHS: Freak Show, spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about her character and teased if she would survive through the season.

"Well, you never know where the greatest harm is, do you? You never know! The darkness of a man's heart - you never know what's lurking around the corner or who's the darkest, really," Bassett observed. "But I think she has a great chance at survival. She's been at it a long time - well, they all have; they've all had to fight their entire lives, but I think she has a good chance, good instincts. I hope she will! They killed me last season, and I'd like a little bit of love this season!"

Characters have been dropping like flies on American Horror Story as of late, with the deaths of Ethel (Kathy Bates) and Gloria (Frances Conroy) weighing most heavily on the show.

Now that Desiree has essentially found her people in the freak show, she is willing to protect them and be a motherly figure. Could this instinct to protect her fellow "freak" make her sacrifice herself in the end? Anything is possible.

"Her back is against the wall, and she's coming out fighting for those who have loved her and fought for her and protected her," Bassett noted. "She's fighting for the weakest of the disenfranchised."

American Horror Story: Freak Show returns Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
