Law and Order: SVU is one of the longest running television shows to ever grace the small screen.

'Law and Order: SVU' Detective's Past Revealed

Every Wednesday, SVU airs new riveting episodes that feature 'ripped from the headlines' cases that capture audience member's attention.

It's no secret that producers use real life domestic abuse cases as the fuel behind the enticing new episodes and the detectives on the show are always determined to solve each case.

New 'Law & Order: SVU' Episode Takes On Ray Rice Assault

Actress Mariska Hargitay who plays detective Olivia Benson, is an advocate and president of the Joyful Heart Foundation, an organization that heals, educates and empowers survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse.

Hargitay's passion for helping victims of sexual assault and domestic violence goes far beyond her role in the NBC hit show.

Last week, the actress shared a photo with a message that relates directly to her new cause, 'NO MORE.'

 #WomenUpholdingWomen, and saying #NoMore. Proud to know @TamaraTunie @MarchStephanie @KelliGiddish @TheKelliGiddish as colleagues and friends #Regram

The message said, "#WomenUpHoldingWomen, and saying #NOMore. Proud to know @TamaraTunie @MarchStephanie @KelliGiddish as colleagues and friends #Regram."

This new campaing has been designed to shed light on how difficult it is to talk about these hidden and painful subjects.

It's safe to say that while these women aren't actually members of New Yorks Special Victims Unit, their passion for helping others can be seen both on and off the screen.
