Filming for season 3 of House of Cards has finally wrapped, showruner Beau Willimon announced on December 20.

Season 3 Of House of Cards To Focus On Foreign Affairs?

"Wrapped filming S3 of @HouseofCards just before midnight yesterday. Thnx to our amazing cast & crew! 2/27/14 @netflix," the director tweeted.

On November 15, Willimon had hinted that filming was almost through, tweeted from Los Angeles, appreciation the sunny weather of the west coast:

Doug Stamper To Return In Season 3 Of House of Cards?

"Hola LA! Dig the warmth & sun. Short visit but I'll soak it up while I can. Then back to east to finish@HouseofCards"

Not much is known about the next chapter as Willimon has been extremely tight-lipped about the show, which stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright.

But a few details have spilled through. Frank Underwood (Spacey) will not only be signing up for fresh challenges as president but foreign affairs would be a prime focus for him. In a recent interview, Polish filmmaker Agnieszka Holland, who will be directing as episode in season 3, stated that Frank might also be dealing with the Russians.

"Without telling you what happens, once Francis Underwood becomes president, suddenly he faces different responsibilities and international situations, and I think there are some similarities to what's going on now. Because I have knowledge of international politics, know more about the Russians and what they do, I can bring that to the show."

The third season of House of Cards is currently filming in Maryland, where the first and second seasons were also shot. Initially, the continuation of filming of the third season of the Netflix series was fraught with troubles over the past few weeks as the producers weren't getting permission from the State of Maryland. But the issue was finally resolved on April 25.

Season 3 of House of Cards will release February 27, 2015.
