The Longmire writers room is invitation only, but over the weekend one of show's writers let his sons make a few suggestions for the series.

Everything We Know About 'Longmire' Season 4

On Friday writer Tony Tost told fans on Twitter that he'd been at the dinner table that evening when his sons, who are four and six, pitched some ideas about where to take the crime drama's fourth season as it makes its Netflix debut.

The pitch quickly gained some traction with the cast. Actor Lou Diamond Phillips (Henry) quickly chimed in to lend his support.

Fans found the joke concept pretty amusing, though their appetite for serious storyline spoilers hasn't been fulfilled just yet. Production for the new episodes doesn't begin until March, and so viewers have quite a way to go before they get to see any new material.

Earlier this year Longmire found itself without a network after A&E cancelled the show following its third season. For months fans rallied around the series, promoting the show through social media and organizing "Twitter Stampedes" to keep the spirit of the program alive.

The overwhelming support seemed to have an impact and in December Netflix picked up the series. The writers returned to work that same month.

Longmire will likely return for a fourth season on Netflix in the summer of 2015.
