Hayley's (Phoebe Tonkin) bond with Klaus (Joseph Morgan) has certainly simplified over the course of The Originals' second season on The CW, but her relationship with Elijah (Daniel Gillies) will only get more challenging as things continue.

"I think she's really torn between what her heart is telling her to do and what she believes she that should do for the good of the pack and her people and to be a good leader which is what she thinks she was born to do," explained Tonkin during a recent interview with KSite TV (featured below).

"She still obviously has strong feelings for Elijah…" added the actress. "I don't really know if she knows what she wants."

Fortunately for Hayley, she is finally on the same page with the father of her child. It hasn't been an easy road, but she's finally getting along with the temperamental Klaus. "In terms of Klaus, there's definitely a really kind of lovely relationship that's blossoming that's definitely more of a mentor-student relationship which has been really fun to play," said Tonkin. "And it's been really fun to kind of pick up a few of Klaus' traits and watch Hayley kind of evolve as a hybrid under the influence of someone like Klaus."

As for the second half of the season, there's still plenty of drama ahead. Actor Charles Michael Davis, who plays Marcel on the show, noted that based on everything that has happened so far it looks like Esther's sister Dahlia might just return.

"Have we talked about the possibility of other family members?" he asked before Tonkin laughed and told him to "shut" his mouth.

Could Davis' slip indicate that there are some other Mikaelsons on the horizon? Will the eldest Freya, taken by Dahlia as a child, return? Davis wouldn't say, though 2015 will likely hold some surprises for the series.

"Dahlia," noted Tonkin, "Her intention really is to cause damage."

The Originals returns on The CW for the remainder of its second season Monday, Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
