Whitelaw was in a number of popular and iconic films, including Hot Fuzz, Quills and Alfred Hitchcock's Frenzy. One of her most memorable roles was as Mrs. Baylock in the classic horror film The Omen.

Her son Matthew Muller had genuine comments to say about his mother.

"She had an incredible career- but first and foremost she was my mum, and that's who I will miss," he said.

Whitelaw won several awards in the earlier years. She won a BAFTA TV Award for Best Actress in 1973 for her role in The Sextet. She also won a BAFTA Film Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1969 for her role in Twisted Nerve and Charlie Bubbles. She also won a National Society of Film Critic Awards for Best Supporting Actress in 1969 for her role in Charlie Bubbles.

Irish actress Lisa Dwan honored the actress in a post written on The Guardian. She pointed out why people loved Whitelaw and how she never had any formal training when it came to acting.

"She was therefore a very instinctual artist with a fierce commitment that came direct from the gut," the post says.
