Fans Reluctant To Watch Lifetime's 'Whitney' After 'Aaliyah: Princess Of R&B' Backlash

She spoke with Bossip earlier this month and said, "We were hands on from the script. I was there every day on set except for the depressing scenes like Left Eye dying and stuff like that.

Being that Aaliyah's family didn't condone this film, it's almost like they get their information from wherever. But I really felt like the show that came on after, the behind-the-scenes was more informative than the movie."

She went on to address the Aaliyah film's executive producer Wendy Williams, who said that despite all of the negative backlash the movie received before it aired, people still tuned in and brought it great ratings.

"She talks about everybody else but all she wants to say is 'you're watching the ratings'... no, no, no, no. We all watched because we respect Aaliyah, but I was very disappointed because I think it told nothing about her true story. For a moment I was like 'Is this R. Kelly's movie too or what? Ok."

She added that not only the late singer's family but also the people who were portrayed in the film should have been a part of it considering they know her story and life inside out.

"They would have fought for the same thing we fought for, getting to know our story."
