Monday, March 16 makes sense as premiere considering previous March premiere dates of the show.

Season 20 of Dancing With the Stars is a significant one considering it will mark the 10-year anniversary of the show. First debuting in the summer of 2005, Dancing With the Stars began relatively meagerly compared to the show's modern incarnation.

In season 1 there were only six celebrities competing: reality star Trista Sutter, boxer Evander Holyfield, supermodel Rachel Hunter, singer Joey McIntyre, actor John O'Hurley and actress Kelly Monaco. O'Hurley and Monaco faced off against each other in the finals but the latter wound up victorious, with pro Alec Mazo.

Nowadays, Dancing With the Stars features up to 13 celebrities and stretches over two months per season. Actor Alfonso Ribeiro was the most recent winner, nabbing the Mirrorball Trophy with his pro partner, Witney Carson.

It remains to be seen how Dancing With the Stars will tribute 10 years of being on the air, but fans will probably get to see some pro dancers who have since departed from the show, in addition to more surprises.
