It was an episode of HBO's Game Of Thrones that fans had been waiting for since the series began, but this week True Detective nearly upstaged the popular fantasy series.

Recently TV Line examined the best and worst of television in 2014. For Best Single Episode of Drama, they went with perhaps the obvious choice of Game Of Thrones' "The Lion and The Rose".

The episode wasn't the sole winner though. It tied with True Detective's "Who Goes There" from season one.

'True Detective' Star Dishes On How Massive Fame Has Changed Career

This episode of HBO's hit crime drama is perhaps most remembered for it's now famous tracking scene , which follows Rust Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) as he tries to bring a hostage across the projects. It has since been studied, praised, and deemed one of the show's crowning achievements during its first season.

The popular program's second season is already in production with a new cast led by Vince Vaughn (career criminal Frank Semyon), Colin Farrell (Detective Ray Velcoro), Rachel McAdams (Detective Ani Bezzerides), and Taylor Kitsch (Officer Paul Woodrugh).

To the disappoinment of many, director Cary Fukunaga, who helmed "Who Goes There," will not be returning to the TV series.

Creator Nic Pizzolatto will pen all the episodes as he did in season one, which will watch the events that follow the murder of a city manager in California.

True Detective will return to HBO for a second season in the middle of 2015.
