"It's wonderful," Coleman told the BBC. "I get a whole other series of stories with the Doctor and I couldn't walk away with the story being unresolved...There is so much more to do. I think they've finally just reached a point where they really understand each other."

Coleman first appeared as a variation of Clara Oswald during season 7's "Asylum of the Daleks," but Coleman's real debut came during the 2012 Christmas Special, "The Snowmen." After half a season with Matt Smith's Eleventh Doctor and a brief stint with the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) in the 50 h Anniversary episode, Clara spent season 9 in the company of the unpredictable Twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi).

Capaldi, who has no plans of regenerating anytime soon, expressed his pleasure at the promise of Clara's continued presence.

"I'm thrilled," Capaldi told the BBC. "Jenna has just been fantastic and such a pleasure to work with."
