NCIS: Los Angeles Deeks is moving forward with Kensi in the present, but the CBS drama will soon take a look at the detective's past as well.

Like his coworkers, Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) has a complicated and rather mysterious personal history. Every so often a new fact will bubble to the surface, and writers are trying to work out a time to dive into at least one aspect of Deeks' pre-NCIS life, most notably his time as a lawyer.

"Yeah, we were supposed to do that last year, but then Daniela Ruah [Kensi] went off and had a kid," Olsen told Glamour, referencing season 5's Afghanistan story arc. "So I know what the backstory is behind it, and at some point they'll go into why he gave up being a lawyer."

Perhaps viewers will even get to meet Deeks' mother. As a child, the LAPD detective shot his father in an effort to protect himself and his mother, and while Hetty (Linda Hunt) revealed that Deek's father is now deceased, the liaison has never really mentioned his mom.
