On Monday, the Michigan singer posted on her Facebook, "I'm very pleased to announce that my debut album will be out soon!"

MLive chatted with her all about her upcoming debut release, in which she talked about the songs and what it was like to record the five-song EP that she's titling, Vertigo, which also happens to be one of the song titles.

The album will be independently released and Yacoub described the song Vertigo as "upbeat and something relatable to a lot of people."

"I like a lot of the songs, but this is my favorite song on the album. The idea is that in any type of relationship, if there is an ending point, it kind of makes a person dizzy, it makes them lose control in a sense, kind of like vertigo," Yacoub further revealed.

The singer recorded the five songs that will be featured on this EP in Nashville in the summer of 2013. She worked with many professional songwriters and managed to come away with a more abstract song called Crystal Ball as another one of the five.

"I got to play around with a lot of interesting sounds. It's really kind of a more existential type of song," she said about Crystal Ball.

She further stated that the album is about all kinds of relationships in life.

There isn't an official release date for her EP just yet, but Yacoub will be singing her original material for the first time when she performs at a concert on New Year's Eve at Bella Maria's Ristorante in Muskegon.
