Phillip Phillips got engaged over the Christmas holiday.

On the day after Christmas, American Idol's season 11 winner asked his longtime girlfriend, Hannah Blackwell, to marry him, and she accepted.

"My best Christmas surprise is happening. We're engaged yall! @HannahBlackwell!" Phillips announced to fans on Facebook on Friday.

In 2012, after winning American Idol, Phillips opened up about Blackwell, whom he met volunteering in Georgia years ago, during an interview with Ryan Seacrest.

"She is really excited for me and she's helped me out a lot through this. I'm hoping she'll maybe be able to go on tour," he said at the time, according to Us Weekly. "It would be cool having her, she's supported me so much. Love her, love her to death."

"My girlfriend is a lot smarter than me so she comes on the road and handles some of the business aspects," he later told Elle. "She meets me at some points. Like I said, she's smarter than me and likes to read so she goes over things I look past."

Along with a second photo, posted to Blackwell's Instagram account, Phillip's fiancee shared a photo of herself as a young child, as well as a close-up of her diamond ring. "I've been dreaming of this for over 20 years," she wrote with the photo. "I've been dreaming of this guy for just that long. Overwhelmed with happiness. @phillphill."

Less than 24 hours after posting his engagement photo, Phillip's picture was liked by over 130,000 fans.
