With his recent performance in the “Expendables 2,” Arnold Schwarzenegger indeed proved that he is back and still able to hold his own in action roles. However, now 65-years-old, the former governor of California freely admitted that he felt the pain in his aging body when performing the film's highly-anticipated stunts.

While gracing the “Expendables 2” black carpet on Wednesday night, Aug. 15, Schwarzenegger had the following to say concerning his physically demanding stunt work, according to USA Today:

“Your knees are not forgiving anymore. When you do these action movies you have to recognize that it takes longer to recuperate. And you will be sore the next day. But so what?”

Although Arnold was able to keep up with the grueling sequences, it was the constant repetition of reshooting them that apparently took a toll on his body, the publication also stated.

"There were scenes where I had to drop down to my knees over and over again. When you get up each time you really feel it in your knees," Schwarzenegger added.

Despite admitting fatigue, the actor claimed to never have gotten “Botox. Or any surgery.”

“So this is the real thing,” Schwarzenegger explained, while proudly pointing at his face.

The movie icon will be taking the lead role in “The Last Stand,” his first since “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines” in 2003. In the 2013 Kim Jee-woon action flick, the actor will play Officer Ray Owens, who must stop a drug cartel leader looking to cross the Mexican border.

“The Last Stand” is set for release on Jan. 18, 2013. Check out the trailer below.
