Miss Hannigan is one mean character to play in Annie, and Cameron Diaz loved that part. The part she wasn't too fond of was having to sing.

Everyone knows Annie is a musical, and so did Diaz when she took the part as Miss Hannigan. She didn't realize, though, that having to sing would leave her in tears.

Breaking News reported on Saturday that Diaz cried when she first had to start singing in front of the cast. She confessed that she broke down in tears even at the prospect of having to sing in the remake.

She admitted that just thinking of having to sing the comedy villain's musical numbers had her crying.

"I cried...in my defense, I had just done a movie in the Bahamas, wokring at night, flew home that morning, didn't sleep, and went into singing that very first afternoon. I was emotionally tapped, you know?"

But the tears didn't dry up there. The second time she had to sing, she broke down again.

"There was no excuse, other than I was completely terrified," she said.

Diaz said she eventually conquered her fears during the filming of Annie and was able to do her job efficiently, which she accredits to the team she worked with.

"I knew that they were going to surround me with the best professionals and teachers, and they did. They helped me to deliver a performance that was worthy of an autotune, so that was great!"

This is the third time Annie has been adapted, and the directors of the movie are hoping the newest will put a new spin on classical music.
