With many TV critics putting out their top 10 lists, some of the same shows tend to show up on many of them, and Orange Is the New Black is one of those shows. According to the HitFix television critics poll, which aggregates top 10 lists from the nation's top critics, OITNB is the no. 8 best show on television.

The second season of Orange Is the New Black came out this year, with many critics thinking that it maintained the high quality of season 1. Season 2 featured all new flashbacks for various prisoners plus the Vee (Lorraine Toussaint) vs. Red (Kate Mulgrew) storyline as well as the hunger strike for better living conditions.

While being the no. 8 show on television is a huge accomplishment, it actually went down slightly compared to last year. For its debut season, Orange Is the New Black came in second place overall, according to the HitFix poll, only being beaten out by AMC's Breaking Bad in its final season.

This year seven shows managed to have higher placements overall, with FX's Fargo topping the list, followed by CBS's The Good Wife, HBO's Game of Thrones, Amazon's Transparent, HBO's True Detective, FX's The Americans and AMC's Mad Men.

It remains to be seen if Orange Is the New Black will maintain its high quality for season 3. The new season is slated to be released in mid-2015 on Netflix, though the streaming service has not yet announced a specific release date.
