Princess Kate found herself doing a lot of apologizing on Dec. 25 when she attended church with Prince William and Queen Elizabeth.

For Christmas this year William and Kate attended services at Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. Notably absent from the outing, however, was the couple's one-year-old son Prince George.

As it turns out, Princess Kate knew onlookers outside the church would be disappointed at his absence and apologized to many of them for having not brought him along.

Recently the Daily Mail spoke to a few of the 2,000 people who stood outside the church that morning hoping to get a glimpse of the royal family.

According to Sarah Neal and her eight-year-old daughter, Maddison, Princess Kate had said 'I'm sorry we didn't bring George, but you would have heard him in the church."

Apparently Maddison had met the little prince before and had brought a gift for Princess Kate with the hope that she'd pass it along to the boy. "Maddison met George on Sunday at the service at Anmer Church," explained Sarah. "She helped him with his lantern and he blew her a kiss."

When Prince William stopped to speak with Kim Dawson, 43, and Elise Dawson, 83, he informed the mother and daughter that George "was having a lovely day" at home.

Princess Kate, the daughter of Michael and Carole Middleton, is currently pregnant with her second child. She is expected to give birth in April.
