Keith Urban is performing at Niagara Falls for New Year's Eve on Wednesday, but the country star still has fond memories of celebrating the holiday in Australia.

"Well one of the great things growing up in Australia is of course it's summer down there," declared the Somewhere In My Car singer during a recent interview with the Times Colonist, "And New Year's Eve is always an outdoor thing."

Urban hasn't spent New Year's Eve back in Australia for some time. For years he spent the night performing for various shows and over the last few years he's spent the day at home in Nashville with his wife, actress Nicole Kidman, and their two young daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.

Even though it's been awhile, Urban still has fond memories of his days in Australia. "Specifically Sydney, where I've experienced many New Years, and the fireworks on the water are just spectacular," noted the country star.

Urban will be spending New Year's Eve near a very different body of water as he performs at ET Canada's New Year's Eve at Niagara Falls alongside Shawn Mendes and Nick Jonas.

Urban had previously called Niagara Falls a "magical place" and looks forward to spending the time there with his family.

When he isn't out touring or sitting as a judge on Fox's American Idol, Urban spends most of his time at home in Nashville with his family.
