Amidst the buzz around the upcoming film adaptation of the racy novel "Fifty Shades of Grey," there has been a slew of speculation as to who will fill the lead role of Anastasia Steele. Former "Gilmore Girls" standout Alexis Bledel is one of few actresses that has received an overwhelming amount of approval to don the highly-anticipated role.

The 30-year-old beauty had taken to Twitter on Aug. 17 to warmly acknowledge the support she has received.

"I see that lots of you wants me to play 'Ana' in Fifty Shades of Grey. :)" stated Bledel.

Steele is described in the book as pale and brown-haired with big blue eyes, which fits the actress almost to the tee.

Movie Pilot has Bledel ranked second behind "Harry Potter" star Emma Watson in their Anastasia sweepstakes and had the following to say in April regarding the 30-year-old up for the coveted role:

"Not only is Bledel cute as pie, but she has Ana's sweet and innocent look down pat. She looks like she can blush and chew her bottom lip with the best of them at the sight of sexy Christian, so we don't care that she's actually 30 years old (if you can believe it). She's our girl!" 

Although no roles for the flick have yet to be set in stone, many are already stating that Bledel should be locked as a front runner in the casting process, which is also in the process of scouting out someone to play the male lead of Christian Grey. 

In her personal life, Bledel began dating her "Mad Men" co-star Vincent Kartheiser in the middle of 2012. She had done three episodes on the series, playing the character of Beth Dawes.
