In December, Madonna used the same technique on several other well-known figures, including Marilyn Monroe, Jesus Christ, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus and Homer Simpson. However, several journalists were outraged with Madonna's use of political figures and slammed the 56-year-old on Twitter.

"#1 pop culture problem of 2015 so far is Madonna force-wrapping peoples' faces in Rebel Heart promo how do we get it to stop," tweeted Lindsey Weber, as associate editor at Vulture.

Buzzfeed editor Hayes Brown tweeted, "Dear Madonna, Can u not? Love, Everyone."

Derrick Clifton, a staff writer at MicNews, wrote, "Madonna is officially a troll - I'm convinced now. She keeps appropriating black people and black culture because she knows it upsets ppl."
