Actors Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds had a special holiday surprise as they welcomed their first child earlier than expected, according to news reports.

The former Gossip Girl star, 27, reportedly gave birth near their Bedford, N.Y. home before bringing in the New Year. The baby's name and gender haven't been revealed.

The Hollywood couple, who met on the set of 2011's Green Lantern and tied the knot in 2012, announced their pregnancy in October via Lively's lifestyle website, Preserve. Being a mother is something that Lively said was always in her life plan.

"It's something that I've always wanted ever since I was a little girl," she told Us Weekly in October. "I knew I wanted to have a lot of kids because I had come from a big family so it was always important to me."

A source already told E! News that the couple wants to try for a second child quickly, especially since the first pregnancy wasn't difficult.

"They are so excited they are having a baby and are happy Blake's had a pretty easy pregnancy," the source said.

As for her husband, Lively predicted that he'd be an exceptional parent months before she gave birth.

"He's going to be a great father and leader and patriarch-he's so meant to be all of those things," she told Vogue in an interview published in July. "The fact that he lived so much before we got together, he's the exact realized person that he should be. And so I get to share my life with the person he's become, and we get to grow from there."
