Nick and Vanessa Lachey welcomed their second child - a baby girl named Brooklyn Elisabeth Lachey - on Monday.

Mrs. Lachey, 34, announced the news on her personal website along with a photo of the baby's hand holding hers and a sweet message.

"I have been dreaming of this moment for as long as I can remember, the day I was going to meet my little girl," she wrote. "A friend recently told me how magical today was going to be because it's the day I would meet my best friend. I can't even begin to tell you how it felt to hold her in my arms for the very first time."

Brooklyn, who joins the couple's 2-year-old son Camden John, was born 7 pounds, 15 ounces and 21 inches long.

The couple announced that they were expecting their second baby via Twitter in July.

"Can't think of a better way to celebrate 3 years of marriage to my beautiful Vanessa than this," Mr. Lachey tweeted.

His tweet was accompanied by a photo of Camden John running on the beach next to the words "It's a girl" written in the sand.

The 98 Degrees crooner and Vanessa, who share the same birthday, began dating in 2006 and tied the knot in July 2011. They wed on a tropical island in front of 35 of their closest friends and relatives.
