On Tuesday Forbes revealed that the singer had made $10 million before taxes last year. In 2013 it was reported that she'd earned $31 million, which could have been the result of more extensive touring that year.

This makes Underwood the top earning American Idol alum for two years in a row now. Runner-up in 2014 was Kelly Clarkson, who earned $8 million. Other high-paid artists to come off Fox's popular competition series include Scotty McCreery and Kellie Pickler.

While American Idol has had a few successful winners in other genres, the program seems to thrive when it comes to launching the careers of successful country stars. Underwood surely sits at the top of this list, with six Grammy wins, 18 no. 1 singles, and over 64 million records sold. She's also teamed up with performers like Steven Tyler, Rihanna and fellow country artist Miranda Lambert for the 2014 singe Somethin' Bad (featured below).

In September Underwood announced that she and husband Mike Fisher, who plays in the NHL for the Nashville Predators, are expecting their first child together. The singer is expected to give birth this spring, though the couple have decided to keep the exact due date private for the time being.

Underwood's latest album, Greatest Hits: Decade #1, was released on Dec. 9.
