It looks like Matthew McConaughey might have had some advice for new True Detective star Vince Vaughn on Sunday.

'True Detective' Golden Globe Loss Might Hurt Viewership For New Season

The HBO crime drama had four nominations at the Golden Globes on Sunday night, and while the series didn't walk away with any wins, that didn't stop the cast and crew from having a good time.

According to Variety on Monday, season 1 star Matthew McConaughey (Rust Cohle) and season 2 star Vince Vaughn (career criminal Frank Semyon) ran into each other at around 10:30 p.m. at the HBO party following the big award show. The pair were soon joined by True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto and the three became absorbed in discussion for nearly an hour.

'True Detective' Golden Globe Predictions

Perhaps McConaughey was giving some advice to the upcoming HBO star, or maybe the three were discussing True Detective's third season. Will both actors return in 2016? Will McConaughey score a cameo for season 2? The actor has always insisted that he never intended to continue with the series beyond the first season, but perhaps reminiscing might make him inclined to stop by the set for a day or two.

The crime drama's upcoming season will look at the murder of a city manager in California. Collin Farrell (Detective Ray Velcoro), Rachel McAdams (Detective Ani Bezzerides), and Taylor Kitsch (Officer Paul Woodrugh) are set to star alongside Vaughn.

True Detective returns on HBO for a second season mid-2015.
