Eminem often gets in trouble for his provocative lyrics and his unapologetic attitude, but his latest gesture proved that there's much more than meets the eye.

Gage Garmo, a 17-year-old who passed away on Monday after battling a rare form of bone cancer for three years, really wanted to his idol. His family and friends attempted to make his wish come true by starting the hashtag #GetGageGarmoToMeetEminem. Michigan-based charity The Rainbow Connection, which helps terminally ill children with their wishes, also stepped in.

The day before his death, Garmo's wish came true when the 42-year-old rapper visited the teen at his home in Rochester Hills, Mich. and spent an hour speaking to him as the kid's mom, dad and younger sister stood by.

"Gage sat up with a grin of his face," Rainbow Connection's Ingrid Todt told the Detroit Free Press. "His family hadn't seen their son do that in such a long time."

"It was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen," she added. "The stars aligned, and Gage's wish came true."

Eminem's good friend, rapper Royce da 5'9", who accompanied him, tweeted about their encounter: "His family is so strong man.. I was on the verge of dropping a year or two.. Great moment tho. Marshall is a great dude."

He also praised the brave teenager calling him a "great kid" and said he was "glad" they spent time with him.

Mission accomplished God Bless this beautiful kid and thank you guys for all your hard work...
