The president of the ABC network discussed the future of Castle again at the Television Critics Association press tour on Wednesday.

'Castle's Rick Introduces Himself As Private Investigator In Humorous Sneak Peek

There has been some underlying speculation that Castle might be ending after the current seventh season, particularly because stars Nathan Fillion (who plays Castle) and Stana Katic (Beckett) have their contracts running up.

ABC president Paul Lee spoke with TVLine at the press tour Wednesday and said that he is hoping that they will choose to renew their Castle contracts.

"We love those two, and we want to see Castle on the air for many years to come."

While Lee would not reveal specifically that Castle would be back for season 8 in the fall, he did simply state "It will be coming back."

Katic previously said that whether or not she chooses to renew her contract depends on a few things. "Well, I think it really depends on.... I don't think that a show should overstay its welcome. If the character is complete, if there is nowhere else to go creatively, then I think it's better to stop when you're on top."

As far as current episodes, Castle will apparently be going to Mars in the upcoming February sweeps episodes. Katic told TVLine after the Golden Globes on Sunday that Castle and Beckett would be "going to Mars," for a case that apparently involves "Mars, spacesuits and space travel." The episode is apparently titled The Wrong Stuff.

Castle airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
