The Oscar nominations were announced Thursday and Birdman and The Grand Budapest Hotel lead with nine nods each.

Julianne Moore, who received a Best Actress nomination for her role as a college professor diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in Still Alice, took to Twitter to express her excitement.

"Thank u everyone for the congratulations! i am so happy i can barely breathe," she wrote.

Steve Carell, known for his comedic roles, also received the Best Actor nod for his work in the drama Foxcatcher.

"Such a great honor. Thank you @TheAcademy. Love to @MarkRuffalo, @channingtatum, Bill Corso, and Bennet Miller. #Foxcatcher," he tweeted.

Carell's Foxcatcher co-star Mark Ruffalo was almost nominated for Best Supporting Actor and also thanked his cast members.

"Thank You @TheAcademy for the #Foxcatcher nomination! Honored and humbled. Thanks @channingtatum @SteveCarell and Bennett Miller. The best," he tweeted.

The 87th Academy Awards air on Sunday, Feb. 22 on ABC at 7 p.m. ET. See the full list of nominees below.
