ABC's WJLA reported evacuations, rescue teams, nearly a foot of rain and extremely strong winds in New Orleans, all from Tropical Storm Isaac.

Non-stop rain fell for more than a day in Louisiana - which reportedly got hit with 20 inches of rain in some areas - and Mississippi experienced flooding too, though they reported that Isaac's path on Thursday, Aug. 30, is moving toward Arkansas.

Federal emergencies were declared in the two states last week and Isaac has many worried that the worst is not over yet. Officially, Isaac was downgraded on Wednesday from a hurricane to a tropical storm, with winds weakening down to 75 mph. Even so, Isaac cut off power to more than 725,000 people in five states as of Wednesday, the International Business Times reported.

Fear of its damages resulted in organizers of the Republican National Convention to postpone the event from Monday, Aug. 27, in Florida, to Tuesday.

Residents living in areas surrounding New Orleans were recommended by authorities to evacuate the towns to avoid any potential danger or damage from Isaac, according to the Times. Those in Washington Parish, nearby Bogue Chitto River, in St. John Parish and near the banks of Lake Pontchartrain received serious warning advisories from law enforcement officials.

Yahoo! readers participating in an online blog described her first-hand accounts of riding out the storm.

"I live in Waveland, MS. We have been getting slammed with rain, high winds & tornados since 6 am.," one reader posted.
