More stars from the original Twin Peaks series are apparently returning for the 2016 incarnation on Showtime.

'Twin Peaks' Creator David Lynch Possibly Reveals Release Date For Showtime In 2016

A new video posted by prominent Twin Peaks fan-site WelcometoTwinPeaks.com from the Twin Peaks UK Festival shows Sheryl Lee (who played Laura Palmer and Maddie Ferguson) and Dana Ashbrook (Bobby Briggs) speaking at the event. The video features the two of them on stage where Ashbrook reveals some exciting news.

"I got a text from Sherilyn Fenn and she was like 'I talked to David [Lynch]; we're going back to Twin Peaks, we're gonna have some fun.' And I was like - I don't know what that meant. And then Sheryl told me when I got here that David said that we're both in," Ashbrook revealed.

Will Showtime Leave David Lynch & Company Alone for 'Twin Peaks' in 2016?

While it's not official yet, this more or less confirms that Lee, Ashbrook and possibly Fenn (Audrey Horne) are all returning to Twin Peaks in 2016. This is exciting news for fans of the original series, which aired from 1990-91 on ABC.

On Monday it was revealed that star Kyle MacLachlan would be returning to Twin Peaks in his role as Special Agent Dale Cooper, and now it looks like more and more casting is underway. With Ashbrook's announcement this week, fans can probably expect even more cast members to come out of the woodwork and possibly announce their own returns.

While Ashbrook's Bobby and Fenn's Audrey are presumed to be alive 25 years later, it will be interesting to see how Lee is incorporated, considering both of her characters have died. However, her doppelgänger was frequently shown in the Black Lodge in the first two seasons, so there is still a plausible way she could return.

It's also possible given the wonderful strangeness that is the world of Twin Peaks that Lee could be playing an entirely new character.

Twin Peaks returns to television in 2016 on Showtime, though the network has not yet announced a specific premiere date.
