American Horror Story: Freak Show standout Mat Fraser recently spoke about the depiction of "freaks" in the season and previewed what's ahead for the finale.

'American Horror Story' Star Lily Rabe Addresses Possibly Returning For Season 5

Fraser, who plays Paul the Illustrated Seal on American Horror Story: Freak Show, told Vulture recently that the family atmosphere shown among the freak show is actually pretty accurate to real-life side shows.

"Now I have the opportunity, hopefully, to do some nice work that will show people I can act, and show disabled people can be in stories and we're part of society," Fraser said. "The audiences are ready, I know that ... For all the shock, [Freak Show] has kind of got it right on that front. In our family, we stick up for each other. It is tough out there, but it doesn't bother us. I worked in sideshows for 15 years, and it is like that, and they did get it right, and that's pretty awesome from a troop of non-disabled writers."

'American Horror Story: Freak Show' Losing Viewers, Will More Tune In For Jessica Lange's 'Curtain Call?'

Asked if the season would end with viewers feeling completely satisfied, Fraser actually noted that if they tried to accomplish that, it wouldn't be smart writing.

"No. I don't think that's good writing. You've gotta leave some stuff to the imagination," he explained. "I would say some things are addressed but not all of them, and it's no different from any other series of American Horror Story in that respect."

Paul the Illustrated Seal has actually been one of the most fleshed out freak show performers, with a storyline involving his sexual escapades in addition to Elsa (Jessica Lange) trying to kill him on a bullseye wheel. Fraser could very well be back for season 5 of American Horror Story if Ryan Murphy and company find a place for him.

American Horror Story: Freak Show airs its finale Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
