As not much is known about the pre-production of Transformers 5, we bring you the lowdown on an interesting aspect for the plot that is being speculated.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Director Helming Age of Extinction Sequel?

It has been suggetsed that the Maximals will be warring against the Predacons, within the theme of beast wars.

Fashion and Style revealed that the Maximals are a subgroup of the Autobots so they would be fighting the good fight against the antagonists, the Predacons, who belong to the creed of Decepticons. The Maximals take the form of animals like rhinoceros, cheetah, rat and beastly birds like the falcon and the eagle. The report reveals that Predacons feature venomous creatures like the scorpion, tarantula, wasp, black widow, and the cobra.

Title For Transformers 4: Age of Extinction Sequel To Be Galvatron Rising?

Earlier this year, the subject of the theme of the beast wars did come up. The report suggested that the machines will now transform into wild animalistic form, and that could open up a whole new world of imagination in the franchise. The beast version of many of the characters is found in the G1 toyline series. Like Optimus Prime is Optimus Primal, Bumblebee is Cheetor, and from the Decepticons, StarScream is Terrasaur and Blackout is Tarantulus.

Not too much is known about the plot of Transformers 5, but here's a lowdown on what's known so far.

Now coming to the plot. As Optimus Prime was seen traveling into space, headed to Cybertron to meet his maker at the end of Age of Extinction, many believed that the sequel would be set in Cybertron and there were a lot of theories being suggested to corroborate that. But in a recent interview, producer Lorenzo de Bonaventura revealed that it was more likely that the saga will continue to unfold on mortal land and there were no plans to set it in space. In fact Bonaventura also stated that the setting for Transformers 5 will be very similar to that of Age of Extinction.

There have also been some other pretty tempting rumors doing the rounds about Shia LeBeouf and Megan Fox returning to the franchise with Transformers 5, but while both mildly welcomed the idea in recent interviews, it seems highly unlikely that such a thing would happen as Age of Extinction marked a complete overhaul with cast for the franchise and announced its new phase.

Now coming to the characters and who is expected to return. There were predictions about Lockdown being resuscitated as has been the case with other machines in the movie's past -- Megatron came back to life in his new avatar as Galvatron. In fact some reports have hinted that a new version of Megatron or Galvatron will be making a massive comeback with Transformers 5. But the most excitingly scary prediction so far has been that Optimus Prime might die in the sequel and Rodimus will take over.

Transformers: Age of Extinction hit theaters on June 27, 2014.
