Chad Johnson has made another attempt to profess his love and wish to reconcile with his estranged wife Evelyn Lozada.

Johnson posted a self-portrait of himself sitting in a chair with a large tattoo of Lozada's face inked on his right leg on Tuesday, Sept.4. Under the ink drawing of the reality star is the word "Eve."

The former NFL star used the image for his Twitter profile picture and posted it to his Facebook page.

Johnson has received criticism for the questionable move. Sports website Bleacher Report calls it "the saddest sight in sports right now."

@lilduval tweeted: "I should headbutt @ochocinco for getting Evelyn's face tattooed on him."

There is no confirmation on whether the ink drawing is permanent. The former wide receiver reportedly had his leg tattooed last weekend following Lozada's first interview on "Nightline" on Friday, Aug. 31.

Johnson was arrested for a domestic violence after head-butting his wife Lozada on Saturday, Aug.11. The incident report revealed Johnson head-butted Lozada's forehead following an argument. The attack resulted in a laceration on her forehead that required six stitches to close it.

In ABC's "Nightline" interview, the 36-year-old revealed she "felt blood coming down my face... and I looked at him and I said, 'You just head-butted me?' And it just -- everything just felt if it was in slow motion."

Johnson's wife of six weeks filed for divorce in Florida three days later, on Tuesday, Aug. 14. According to TMZ, Lozada filed the petition stating that their marriage is "irretrievably broken." The report also revealed that the couple had a prenuptial agreement.

The reality star married Johnson less than two months prior to the incident on July 4 in Saint Martin. The wedding planning and ceremony was recorded for their reality show "Ev and Ocho," but VH1 announced that the network dropped the show from their fall lineup.

Johnson issued an apology statement on his website on Aug. 14:

"I would like to apologize to everyone for the recent events that have occurred.  I would like to wish Evelyn well and will never say anything bad about her because I truly love her to death. I will continue to be positive and train hard for another opportunity in the NFL. To all the fans and supporters I have disappointed, you have my sincerest apologies.  I will stay positive and get through this tough period in my life."
