MTV Video Music Awards 2012: Nominees List, Who Will Be Performing - Rihanna, One Direction, Nicki Minaj

The MTV Video Music Awards 2012 (VMAs 2012) is scheduled to take place on on Thursday night, with host Kevin Hart looking to bring an exciting show displaying the best music videos from the past year.

The event is being broadcast directly from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, with Rihanna and Drake leading the way with nominations. Both of those artists have been given five nominations and will be favorites to scoop the most awards. However, Katy Perry and Beyonce may also have something to say about that accolade come the end of the night, as they have both also been nominated for four awards.

The night will be an exciting one and will feature a host of the top musical talent in the world. Performing during the show will be Rihanna, Green Day, Alicia Keys and Lil Wayne.  Others also set to perform on stage will be Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, One Direction and Taylor Swift.

Up for the award for the top prize "Video of the Year 2012" are Drake (Take Care), Gotye (Somebody That I Used to Know), MIA (Bad Girls), Katy Perry (Wide Awake), and Rihanna (We Found Love).

Justin Bieber and Chris Brown will be the favorites to take the crown for "Best Male Video," where as Rihanna, Beyonce and Katy Perry will be fighting it out for the "Best Female Video" award.
