Longmire will only have 10 episodes for its fourth season, but it's still possible that Netflix will be looking to expand the series come season 5.

Find Out Which 'Longmire' Star Just Might Write An Episode This Season

The popular crime drama has yet to be confirmed for a fifth season, but if things go well on Netflix the show could be looking at a long and profitable run.

The hit political drama House of Cards, known as Netflix's first dive into original programming, typically airs 13 episodes per season. If Longmire thrives with its new home, then fans could be looking at an extra three hours of Walt (Robert Taylor) and the gang in 2016. With the show's extensive fanbase, a 13-episode season would likely be welcomed across the board.

Three 'Longmire' Stars Confirmed For Summer Festival

In 2014 Longmire faced permanent cancellation after it was dropped from A&E. The network's decision had come as a surprise to many viewers. At the time the show had been A&E's top rated scripted series and second most popular behind the reality show Duck Dynasty.

For months fans rallied together via social media in an attempt to revive the drama and the series waited in limbo for months before Netflix picked it up towards the end of November. The writers have since reconveneyed to map out the new episodes.

Production is set to begin in March.

Longmire will likely return for a fourth season on Netflix during the later half of 2015.
