The former "Nickelodeon" star Amanda Bynes isn't facing a laughing matter. Rather she's looking at up to a one year sentence plus $2,000 in fines for alleged hit and run charges.

Bynes has been trying to keep a laid back profile since deciding to take time off from acting but that hasn't been the case due to charges that stem from two alleged hit and runs on August 10, 2012 and August 4, 2012.

The young 26-year-old is being charged with two misdemeanors. Although the charges stand, many are doubtful that she will actually see jail time.

"Her attorney, Rich Hutton, is highly capable and I have no doubt that he will get her the best deal possible," said criminal defense attorney Troy Slaten, speaking with E! News. Slaten is not associated with Bynes' legal team, but he is firm in his conviction as a seasoned legal professional.

Despite the charges that stand, the star has still yet another hearing coming up on September 12th with the District Attorney.
