Although it was not an academy award-type performance, the Republicans had Clint Eastwood on their podium one week ago.  However, the Democrats are looking to counter that with some movie star power of their own; Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman and Kerry Washington.

According to CNN, a tentative schedule has the Hollywood actresses set to speak on Thursday, which is the night of President Barack Obama's acceptance speech.  Alternative rock band The Foo Fighters will also be performing before the respective speech. Vice President Joe Biden will be accepting his own nomination as well.

The three young actresses would give the Democratic crowd a vast generational difference from the 82-year-old Eastwood.  Portman is 31-years-old while Washington, who stars on ABC's political series "Scandal, is 35.

Representatives for Johansson and Portman did not comment on the appearance reports.  Although Washington said that she is filming in Los Angeles at the present time, she did not deny a scheduled appearance.  Democratic officials declined to confirm whether or not the elite actresses would be appearing.

Should the actresses take the stage and provide support for President Obama, it could very well aid the Democrats in driving forth a picture of inclusiveness and diversity in the party itself.  Washington is African-American, Johansson and Portman are white.

Portman had won an academy award in 2011 for her film "The Black Swan."  However, Johansson has also had her share of success for her movie roles such as "Lost in Translation," and "A Love Song For Bobby Long."  Besides her role on "Scandal," Washington has gotten praise for playing in "For Colored Girls" as well as the "Ray" biopic.

The Democratic convention will not be lacking in star clout, as Jessica Alba and her producer husband Cash Warren will be co-hosting Super-O-Rama on Thursday night.  Other notable celebrities in Charlotte this week include Jeff Bridges, Patricia Arquette, Rose Byrne, Ashley Judd, John Leguizamo, and Tony Shalhoub.
