Among the Hollywood celebrities speaking at the Democratic National Convention on Sept. 6 is actress Scarlett Johansson, who has early on stated her interest in the 2012 presidential election.

"There is so much at stake in this campaign," Johansson said in a press statement. "2012 will not be easy. We have to fight even harder this time around."

The Christian Post reported that the actress has attended several Obama events, including the Runway to Win, which combined fashion and fundraising.

Johansson will be on stage at the DNC with fellow actresses Natalie Portman and Kerry Washington. The Foo Fighters will perform and then the three actresses will take the stage before welcoming President Barack Obama, who will give his nomination acceptance speech on Day 3 of the DNC.

Bill Clinton spoke at the convention on Wednesday, giving praise to Obama, and now it is time for some of Hollywood's female leaders to take a stance as well.

"In the three years since taking office, President Obama has delivered on many of his promises from the 2008 election," Washington told Elev8. "He has expanded health care coverage for millions of Americans. He's recovered the auto industry, saving countless jobs," she explained, which is why she is supporting his campaign.

Wednesday's convention also had some Hollywood starlets thrown into the mix of politicians and delegates present at the event. Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas led the Pledge of Allegiance at the beginning of the evening session.

Johansson was married to "The Proposal" actor Ryan Reynolds until 2011. She starred in this summer's action-packed hit "The Avengers" and played the same action hero role in "Iron Man 2" in 2010.

The Republican National Convention had Clint Eastwood as their top Hollywood speaker. It seems like the Democrats are trying to outdo the Republicans not just in politics, but also in the number of featured A-list celebrities present at the respective conventions.
