Parsons, whose role as Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory has earned him four Emmy Awards, could have missed out on this opportunity of a lifetime. The actor attended the SAG Awards on Sunday where he spoke with Glamour about the one role he wished he would have gotten.

"There was a show that was on for one season called Out of Practice that producer Christopher Lloyd did, and I wanted that very, very badly," he admitted. "I got called back and stuff and went far enough [in the process] for it to be disappointing when it didn't happen. It all worked out for the best-for all of us-but that is the first thing [I think of]."

Out of Practice only ran for one season on CBS from 2005-06, centering on a family of doctors. Stockard Channing received an Emmy nomination for the show but it was canceled due to poor ratings.

The Big Bang Theory came around in 2007, but it is unknown how he would have felt if he was actually cast on Out of Practice. Would he be discouraged by the cancellation and pursue film or theater instead? Regardless, fans are probably happy he landed the role of Sheldon, who has become one of the most popular sitcom characters in modern television.

The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
