The Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik recently spoke about the massive success of the sitcom, chalking it up to the quality of the characters.

Bialik, who plays Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler on The Big Bang Theory, appeared on the red carpet of the SAG Awards on Sunday where she spoke to the E! network on why the sitcom has lasted this long.

"I think it's the writers ... They've created characters with a lot of depth," Bialik explained, according to CarterMatt. "We have a lot of characters on our show, it's a deep cast ... We hang out together, we have a beautiful camaraderie, and I hope that comes across."

The actress was nominated alongside her cast in the Best Comedy Series Ensemble at the SAG Awards. She was nominated with Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting (who plays Penny), Johnny Galecki (Leonard), Simon Helberg (Howard), Kunal Nayyar (Raj), Jim Parsons (Sheldon) and Melissa Rauch (Bernadette).

The cast has been nominated every year in this category for the past four years but they have lost each time. They most recently lost to the cast of Orange Is the New Black on Sunday night's ceremony.

Bialik and Parsons have received the most awards success from The Big Bang Theory, with both of them being nominated the past three years at the Emmys for their individual performances. Parsons has won the Emmy for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series four times.

The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
