As Scott Disick, the long-term boyfriend and father of Kourtney Kardashian's two children, stopped for interviews on the red carpet during Macy's Fashion's Night in New York City, one subject was off limits: his children.

Interesting for a member of the Kardashian clan, who are known for having their lives played out in front of cameras. In fact, Disick recently appeared in Us Weekly along with newborn Penelope Scotland, his 2-year-old son Mason and Kardashian for a family photo shoot.

On Sept. 6, Disick was asked by a reporter if it's hard being away from Penelope, to which he responded, "I'm not away from my family nearly as much as many other people in business are who are constantly traveling."

When the next question, "Do you ever Skype with Penelope," was asked, Disick appeared agitated. "I'm not a big Skype guy," he said.

He had had enough by the time the third question, "Are you ever afraid you're going to miss something while you're away" was asked.

"I really don't want to do questions about my daughter," Disick responded. "You know, what I mean? I'll talk fashion or Macy's or whatever."

The reporter, a little taken aback, peered at his list of hand-written questions and asked the reality TV star for some men's fashion advice.

"Be as clean as possible, I think," Disick said. "Try to care a little bit."

So, what's the dad of two's personal style?

"A little '70s, '80s," he replied. "A little retro with a modern touch, I'd like to think it's clean and crisp -- something a little bigger than most."

Then, the reporter went into dangerous territory again - Disick's children. When asked if he liked dressing his kids, he replied,  "Yeah. I told you I want to stay away from kid questions."

Disick was also asked why he had chosen to make an appearance at Macy's to promote his NYC restaurant, RYU,  as opposed to any of the other Fashion's Night Out events.

The star was very frank in his response: "I don't really know how many other events are going on, but I heard Macy's is a big one. So yeah, I'm happy to be here. I'm excited about it."
