After a storm delay, the 2012 U.S. Open Women's Final will now take place on Sunday between the #4 Serena Williams and the #1 Victoria Azarenka.

Azarenka will look to continue her string of strong performances, but will have no easy task in getting past Williams.

As of late, Williams has come up big via winning both Wimbledon and an Olympic gold medal at the summer Games.

She possesses a 9-1 career record against Azarenka, which includes 8 out of the 9 wins that were straight-set victories.  However, Williams has faced her own share of adversity.  In six singles matches at the U.S. Open, she has been defeated a total of 19 times.  Azarenka has lost 15 within her last two matchups.

After winning the Australian Open, Azarenka will look to add her second major title of the year.  She had spoken about her mindset going into the match against such a big name like Serena Williams, according to Philly.

"When I go to play against her, I don't think that I'm playing against Serena; I just try to go the same way and try to focus more on myself.  But you definitely know that it's going to be a big adversity there on the court against you."

Momentum is definitely not against Azarenka, as she had eliminated Maria Sharapova in a hard fought match on Friday winning 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.  The grueling face-off took two hours and 42 minutes.

Even though she is only 23-years-old, playing on Saturday would have been a stretch for Azarenka if not for the postponement.  Despite being in great physical condition, the win against Sharapova appeared to be both physically and emotionally draining toward her.

The delay should benefit both the competitors and the fans.  With the two a little more rested for their final, it should be a hard fought matchup.

Serena Williams vs. Victoria Azarenka will begin at 4:30pm EST on Sunday.
