Is Downton Abbey coming to an end anytime soon? Executive producer Gareth Neame just weighed in on those reports.

Actress Weighs In On 'Downton Abbey' Ending Rumors

The British drama is currently airing its fifth season in the United States and it's been renewed for a sixth season. But will that be it from there?

Neame gave some information on this although he didn't give a specific yes or no...which could be because he's probably tired of being asked this question.

Chatter On An Edith & Marigold Scene On 'Downton Abbey'

"Since the day we announced we were going to do a series two I have been asked that question [about when it will end]," the producer said, posted on Yahoo! News on Wednesday. "This would be overstating it to say it has been about 12 times a day."

Neame advised that there should be other things about the show to focus on rather than speculating when the time comes for its finish.

"It's really the only question you get asked and it's a bit sad," he said. "How about the fact that the ratings on the first of this current season were the highest ratings of any show in America? Downton Abbey is the most popular show in America out of everything and yet all anyone wants to ask is when it is going to end."

Considering that the show's creator Julian Fellowes is supposed to be working on a new show called The Gilded Age, this has given insight that Downton could be meeting its fate soon. But Neame made it clear that Gilded still has time before it airs.

"We are not going to embark on that show until we have moved on from Downton so it's some way off yet," he said.

Downton Abbey airs on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on PBS.
